Nitric Oxide plays more than one role in the body.
A lot of people think it is just for making the old arteries dilate, but they would be sorely mistaken. Nitric Oxide is also a signaling molecule that tells cells when to proliferate and when to die, plays a role in pain, learning, neurodegeneration, relaxation, human growth hormone production, male virility, female pre-term labor, asthma, RNA and DNA synthesis monocyte and lymphocyte production, wound healing, increased bone mineralization, and lymphatic activity. Creating nitric oxide is important, but the question is how do you raise it naturally?
The answer is simply exercise. Walking, gardening, etcetera increases nitric oxide. In the clinic, we use Blood Flow Restriction (BFR) exercise to increase it naturally and to an increased level. BFR Exercise increases the amount of nitric oxide while working out half of the time with half of the weight. Pam and I are both certified coaches in BFR exercise.
If you want to come in and find out more about BFR workouts to help keep you on your path to health, simply give us a call at (775)299-5998 or book online at naturopathylane.com and select BFR appointment.

And welcome to day 2 of tapering onto the elemental diet. For myself and my wife anyway. The tapering isn’t as hard as one might think.
Mindset is everything. Two cups of black coffee to wake up. Then a shake for breakfast. Followed by 2 meals throughout the day as normal. It changes as the days go on and eventually just shakes for a couple of weeks.
Hopefully this time I don’t get on the diet and break my arm like last time.
This diet was designed for the Apollo astronauts. It is an opportunity to shed unnecessary pounds and repopulate the microbiome on the way off of the diet with healthy populations. It also gives the gut time to heal.
Sometimes you just have to take time to do the things you like to do.
At least 30 minutes a day to relieve stress and anxiety.
Did you know:
If your Iron levels are low try adding vitamin C before you supplement or eat something rich in iron. Vitamin C will increase the iron absorption into the blood.
Naturopathic Medicine is all about small changes.
One change I am used to is 2 cups of black coffee in the morning. Another one is saving a soda or McDonald’s for a treat every couple of weeks.
